Summer Camps

We’re excited to announce our 2019 summer camp offerings. Each summer Reynolds Homestead hosts a variety of exciting, engaging, and fun summer camps for area students. June 24-26, ages 7-13. Camp Homestead will include a variety of interactive field games, STEM challenges, and adventures on the grounds of Reynolds Homestead. Enjoy 3 days playing, exploring, creating, building, and enjoying all summer has to offer.

Camp will be held June 24-26, 9am –12pm. Snacks will be provided daily. Camp fee is $35 per person, registration and payment is due June 14th. Registration is required.

June 17-20, ages 9-12. A Journey into Orbit. Join PC Rocket Robotics as they host a summer camp for youth Ages 9-12 (grades 4th-8th). Campers will learn how to build and program a Lego robot to perform critical tasks for any astronaut traveling to space in a fun game.  Learn how to use sensors such as color, distance, touch and inertial (Gyroscope / Accelerometer) to program the Lego robot to complete tasks related to space travel. On the final day of camp, students will visit the Terrestrial Robotics Engineering & controls [TREC] Lab at Virginia Tech! Campers should bring a bagged lunch [Mon-Wed], lunch will be provided in a dining hall during the visit to VT!

Camp will be held June 17-20, 9am –12pm. Camp is $50 per person. Registration and payment due June 7. Registration is required.

July 8-10, ages 4-8.  Children will enjoy an immersive storybook experience, way beyond princesses and knights, led by instructor
Kristin Hylton. This camp will focus on traditional and contemporary folk and fairy tales, incorporating rhythm and rhyme, whole body movement, collaborative art, and  emotional intelligence education into each day’s activities.

Camp will be held July 8-10, 10 am –12:30 pm and is $30 per person.  Snacks will be provided daily. Registration and payment due June 28th.  Campers should bring a packed lunch, and dress in comfortable clothing that can get messy or damp. Registration is required.

July 15-18, ages 7-12. Art in Nature camp, Camp will be held July 15-18, 9am –12pm.  Explore the beautiful intersection between art and nature during this  four day Art in Nature Camp led by art instructor Grace Helms this summer. Campers will create a watercolor painting using the shadows from trees, use their feet to paint giant sunflowers, and create prints using leaves found on nature walks. Participants will be invited to learn about and create spider webs along with utilizing objects found in nature to experiment painting.

The week will culminate in an art show for parents & friends on
Thursday July 18, noon until 1pm. Snacks will be provided daily. Camp is $40 per person. Registration and payment due July 5. Registration is required.

Polar Express Pajama Party

Polar Express is our annual Holiday celebration in which families are invited, in their PJs of course, to Reynolds Homestead for dinner, hot chocolate bar, viewing of the movie Polar Express and family fun! More information will be available Fall 2019!

Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Celebration 

You could not, would not, should not miss our Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration! Each year we invite all book lovers to join us as we celebrate the beloved children’s author, Dr. Seuss. The afternoon is full of read alouds, arts, crafts, face painting, photobooth and Seuss inspired snacks. Check back early 2020 for information regarding the next Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration!
